Fawkner Occasional Childcare
A nurturing, community-based childcare and education centre.
A Message To Families
We support and encourage communication with your child’s educators about your child’s unique needs and their general enjoyment of their day at our Service. Everybody has a preferred time and method of communication. Sometimes, mornings and afternoons can be a little rushed, and not the best time to discuss your child’s progress. You are encouraged to talk to our Educational Leader to arrange to meet your child’s educator at a mutually convenient time.

Enrolment
Prior to your child commencing at our Service, you’ll be required to complete an Enrolment Form, and provide documentation.
If you require assistance completing the enrolment form, please contact our Educational Leader for assistance.
We will require the following documentation:
- your child’s Medicare number (if available)
- copies of any court order, parenting orders or parenting plans
- an immunisation history statement from the Australian Immunisation Register
This must show that your child is up to date with vaccinations for their age OR your child is on a recognised vaccine catch up schedule OR has a medical condition preventing them from being fully vaccinated.
Please note, the names written on the enrolment form must match the names on your child’s birth certificate or identity documents.

Bookings
Childcare can be booked on a permanent or casual basis, subject to availability. We operate 48 weeks of the year, including school holidays, and close for 4 weeks over December/January. Once registered in our system, additional bookings can be made at short notice if places are available.
Permanent bookings are ongoing arrangements that:
- remain the same from week to week
- must stay unchanged for a minimum of 3 weeks
- are chargeable regardless of attendance
Casual bookings are one-off arrangements that:
- can be made at short notice for emergency or irregular care, provided vacancies exist
- will be placed on a waiting list if no vacancies are available, with families contacted if a place opens up
- are designed to support families with casual or shift work
Fees & Subsidies
Our daily fee is: $16.50 per hour and $19.00 per hour for casual placement, before Child Care Subsidy (CCS) has been applied.
Fees are charged weekly by direct debit, one week in arrears.
Fees are payable even when your child is absent from the service due to public holidays, illness, accident, or family holidays.
Fees are not payable when FOCC closes for four weeks over the Christmas / January holidays.
Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is a government payment to help families with the cost of childcare and education.
Families apply for CCS through their MyGov App.
This subsidy is paid directly to the service to reduce your weekly fees.
